90% Eclipse, 100% Atmosphere
Yesterday, our village gathered to witness a remarkable event: a 90% solar eclipse visible over Belgium. As a photographer, I was fascinated not only by the eclipse itself but also by the atmosphere it created among the people who came together to experience it.
There was a real sense of community. Neighbours chatted, shared their excitement, and helped one another enjoy the spectacle safely. I had forgotten to bring eclipse glasses myself, but luckily someone kindly lent me a pair. It was a small gesture, yet it made the experience even more memorable.
What struck me most was the changing light. As the moon gradually covered the sun, the landscape was transformed. The familiar brightness of the afternoon gave way to a softer, gentler glow. Shadows became less defined, colours appeared different, and everything seemed wrapped in a strange but beautiful light. It felt almost as if nature had briefly switched to a completely different mood.
The eclipse was beautiful, but what made it truly special was sharing it with others. Watching the sky together, borrowing a pair of glasses from a neighbour, and witnessing the landscape change before our eyes turned a rare astronomical event into a warm community experience.
